Journey On!

Today, I attempted to try a relaxation audio from class.  I am supposed to discuss my experience.  So here goes.

The setting:  Well I'm a mother of two young children, who are both at home.  One is playing on the computer, and the other on the IPad.  Seems like a perfect moment to get a few minutes to myself.  Push Play!
Moooommmmyyyyy!

Seriously, give me a minute sweetie, mommy's trying to relax for her homework!

Okay, now what did that guy just say, undo my clothes? Hmmm...maybe I will lock myself in the bathroom for this.  Well, now I need to pee.

Okay, start over.  Now I'm in the bathroom, door locked, privacy can't be better.  Oops, I feel guilty because I get angry with my husband for hiding out in the bathroom.  Oh well, I can justify it because it's for class.  Hmmm, what is this guy saying again.

Knock...knock.....Mommy, what are you doing in there? I need a snack!

Help yourself honey, I'm doing homework!  Really!

MOM!!! The dog got out!!!!

Okay, deep breath! What? It's over! Ah, heck....I've never been more stressed!  Think I'll just go for a run...Gotta catch the dog anyway!

  1. Gina,
That musty have been a stressing experience for you. With your hands full with kids and all, it was practically impossible to go through the relaxation. Maybe next time you may need to find some quiet place for yourself and see how it goes. Mind you I am giving you tips that I have not been able to follow through myself. Lol

  2. Gina,

Perhaps you can try the exercise once the kids are in bed, and it could help to relax you in preparation of sleep. I can definitely identify with kids constantly interrupting everything. I never have a moment of quiet unless I wake up really early. That could be a great time to do the exercise as well. Perhaps it could relax you for the day. Running is a great way for many of us moms to relax because we can actually do it by ourselves (although I like to run with my older kids who never stop talking). Great and honest blog! I totally understand!

    Warm Regards,
    Amy

  3. Haha! I love the format you used to illustrate your 'relaxing experience'! I can relate! My daughter is 14 and while she was (mostly) quiet during the tape, she did give me quite a few smirks and questioning looks! I think if running works for you, stick with it! Maybe you could incorporate a relaxing thought process into your run? I had to modify the exercise a little bit, so I understand that it might not work for everyone in this structure. Good luck finding some time to try it out!

  4. LOL... loved your writing. Try it again, children in bed asleep. Living floor is a good place, at night bed is dangerous because it's so easy to fall asleep there. Take 2 :)
